NEW SCHOOL BUS STOPS ANNOUNCED In cooperation with the Caroline County School Transportation office, we have revamped the Lake Caroline school bus stop locations to provide safe areas for our students while they wait to be picked up and dropped off. This new configuration provides for adequate parent parking as well as room for students to stay completely clear of the roads while waiting for the bus. PARENTS: You are responsible for your students while they wait for the bus. Please remind your students that they are not to have any contact whatsoever with any personal property (such as boats) stored at these areas. Below are the stops for this school year. Rec 1 – Beaver Park Rec 7– Senate Park Rec 2 – Delaware Park Rec 8—Tranquility Park Rec 3 – Boston Park Rec 9– Heron Park Rec 4 – Justice Park Rec 11—Ladysmith Park Rec 6– West Point Park Little Beach Marina ***************************************************************** Following a recent incident on Lake Caroline and with the safety of all community members using the lake, the Maintenance Department has installed two new buoys in the lake to create a NO WAKE ZONE. The two NO WAKE buoys designate the NO WAKE ZONE in the channel on either side of the channel marker. As you enter the channel, you will need to reduce your speed from the first buoy, continuing on the right side of the buoy and on past the channel marker itself until you have passed the second buoy. Once you have cleared the area beyond the two NO WAKE buoys which are separated by the channel marker, you may resume speed. Remember to pass on the right side of the buoys only. The NO WAKE ZONE is in effect around the clock and whether or not the lights are on. We hope this answers your questions about the new NO WAKE ZONE, but if you still have a question or a concern, please feel free to call the office at 448-3400. #130 Tranquility Dr. scheduled for 8-30-2010 Constitution scheduled for 8-31-2010, 9-1-2010 Senate Dr., #130 Freedom Dr. scheduled for 9-3-2010 through 9-7-2010 Constitution paving scheduled for 9-8-201 "Caroline County Suspends Temporary Ban on Open Burning" Caroline, Virginia – 8:30 AM on August 19, 2010; The Caroline County Department of Fire-Rescue and Emergency Management has suspended the "NO BURNING or OUTDOOR FIRE BAN" established on July 7, 2010. Based on the Department’s recommendation, enforcement of the Emergency Ordinance against open burning will also be suspended. This action coincides with improved ground moisture levels across the region. "The rain that Caroline County has received recently has helped" stated Chief David Layman. "However, we are asking that anyone burning outdoors please use extra caution and continue to abide by existing County ordinances for open burning. Homeowners should attend all fires and have a means of extinguishment or control method readily available. Please do not burn on windy days." The Caroline County Board of Supervisors, Department of Fire-Rescue and Emergency Management, Caroline County Sheriff’s Office and the Virginia Department of Forestry would like to thank the citizens for their cooperation during the local state of fire emergency and "No Open Burning" ban. This greatly reduced the number of wildfires during this period and improved the overall safety of the County.
