President’s Message for September, 2010!
President’s Message…
September is here already! Summer has flown by so quickly. Our children are going back to school and that means school buses and children on our streets. Please take a little extra care when driving in Lake Caroline.
We are almost half way through the current year for the Association so I thought it might be good to review some of the actions the Association has taken to deal with some of the more pressing problems.
¨ The deck of the swim platform at main beach has been replaced. This will eliminate the uneven surfaces, protruding nails and other hazards.
¨ Badly deteriorated docks in several recreation areas have been removed and will be replaced over the next few months. This was necessary because pilings were completed rotted out and decking was badly decayed.
¨ Engineering work necessary to obtain State certification for the Ladysmith Lake and Lake Caroline dams is underway.
¨ A contract for replacement of several badly deteriorated culverts has been awarded and replacement should begin in the next few weeks.
¨ A contract for performing the state required reserve study has been awarded and activities should begin in the near future.
¨ The Board has affirmed its support of the Lake Preservation Committee's dredging recommendations and has appointed a committee to explore methods to provide the necessary funding.
There many more critical issues left to deal with but I believe we are making significant progress on many of the most critical. If you would like to be part of the efforts to move forward, please consider volunteering or better yet consider "putting your name in the hat" to join the Board of Directors. The nominating committee has begun work on the 2011 slate of members who would like to run It is not that hard to become a candidate. You must be a member in good standing and submit a resume of 200 words or less to the Nominating Committee prior to the 1st of December.
